Moulin Rouge Show Information

'Féerie', the Moulin Rouge's new show

'Féerie' consists of : a troupe of 100 artists, including 60 Doriss Girls recruited world-wide ; 1000 costumes of feathers, rhinestones and sequins, made in the most famous Parisian workshops ; sumptuous sets in shimmering colors, uniquely designed by Italian artists ; outstanding international acts, and the awaited return of the giant aquarium; all this performed to original music recorded by 80 musicians and 60 chorus singers.

'The Moulin Rouge today and yesterday, the Moulin Rouge forever:
The theatre lights go down, the curtain is raised…and the entire troupe appears on stage, under the admiring gaze of the audience, who find themselves entering the Garden of the Moulin Rouge to discover the magical atmosphere of the place ! A touch of nostalgia.
From this moment on, the spectators let themselves be enthralled by the beauty of the Doriss Girls and the Doriss Dancers!

'Sandokan':
What kind of adventures can happen to a pirate whose boat is anchored in Indonesia ? Dreams ? The love of a perfect woman ?...
Once on land, we meet priestesses, and a Gorgon in her temple surrounded by snakes… we can even attend the Governor’s Ball ! Sandokan has the opportunity to offer his treasures to the lady of his dreams; or will we be witnesses to a sacrifice of love ?

'The Circus':
The circus comes to town… with its band of clowns, Siamese twins, pierrots, acrobats, jugglers, weird wild animals and six miniature horses ! Colourful scenes to beautiful music ending with the great parade of the Doriss Girls and Doriss Dancers.

'The Moulin Rouge from 1900 to…':
The Moulin Rouge pays a tribute to Parisian women throughout the years : on the 14th of July, for the Liberation of Paris … with Java or Boogie music. Time passes and leaves space for new generations of women, more beautiful and free than ever !

As the highlight of this tribute, the Doriss Girls dance the world famous French Cancan !

HISTORY:

Carefree life, Flickleness and Joie de Vivre... Those are the three words that could best sum up this unique period in the History of France. It was a rest between two wars, a period of transition between two centuries, during which the social barriers collapsed, when the industrial revolution gave hope of a better life for all, in a rich cultural profusion and that promised much fun.
The middle-class mixed with the riffraff, the popular culture was enchanced in a contented disorder full of joy and vitality. In that atmosphere, which favoured artistic creativity, literary circles appeared and disappeared according to people'meetings, while painters and drawers got especially inspired by this joyful sometimes outrageous but full of fancy atmosphere that broke completely with the rigid classicism of that period.

The Japonism *, a movement of Far-East inspiration using influences from the Japanese style in French Art, was at its height. Toulouse-Lautrec and his famous Japanese engravings was one of the most famous disciples of that time. The atmosphere fitted perfectly to the appearance of the first cabarets, such as the Moulin Rouge in 1889

The Dinner:
The tradition of cabaret does not rest on gastronomy, nonetheless Laurent TARRIDEC a Chef acclaimed by the Guide Michelin and with one 'toque' granted by the Gault-Millau guide, makes the Table of the Moulin Rouge delicious experience. From Brittany, this chef was head chef and owner of the restaurant Leu Mouscardins in Saint-Tropez (on the French Riviera), and wanted to put his talents to the service of the prestigious Moulin Rouge. As he said 'At the Moulin Rouge, every night is a feast. The courses we prepare have to be as good and beautiful as the scenes, costumes and dancers.' Gala nights are for him occasions to create exciting and new menus, which blend the most delicious shellfish with the most noble meats and wines.
